IndusInd Bank
The name of the IndusInd Bank is taken from “the Indus Valley Civilization” one
of the greatest cultures of the world. The bank was formulated by Mr. Srichand Hinduja
, a leading NRI businessman and the head of the Hinduja group. He brought the bank
into being through a collective contribution of the NRI community towards India's
economic and social development. The bank was inaugurated by Dr. Manmohan Singh
in April 1994, who was then the finance minister of India. The company started with
a base capital of Rs. 1000 million, of which Rs. 600 million was raised through
private placement from Indian citizens while the balance Rs. 400 million was contributed
by non-resident Indians.
With around 61 branches in 1994, the bank has now grown by leaps and bounds having
a total of 137 branches throughout India, 150 ATMs, and a huge work power with advanced
technologies. All the ATMs and bank outlets are connected via satellite to its central
database that operates on the latest version of IBM's AS400-720 series hardware
and Midas Kapiti now Misys software.
Ashok Leyland Finance ltd merged with the company in 2004 and set in motion a process
of consolidation through the combined customer base ,thereby also increasing its
geographical penetration. IndusInd Bank provides to its customers a wide variety
