Future Generali Group
The Future Generali Group is a joint venture between the Future
Group and the Generali group,with its headquarters in Mumbai. It deals with both
life and non-life insurances, under the banners of Future Generali India Life Insurance
co. Ltd. and Future Generali India Insurance co. Ltd.
The Future group as a whole deals in businesses like retail, capital,
media, consumer finance and logistics. The very renowned Pantaloons Retail India
Ltd. is the group's flagship enterprise and the same also owns and manages various
other retail houses like Home Town, Food Bazaar, Big Bazaar and Central. The company
is a diversified conglomerate that operates in over 5 million square feet of retail
space with a team of 18,000 employees with around 450 stores across 40 cities nation-wide.
The Future group has joint ventures with various other national and international
companies as well. For instance, Staples Inc, which is a US based stationery products
retailer, UK based Lee Cooper, Alpha airports and ETAM group, to name a few. Liberty
Shoes,Blue foods and Talwalkers are its Indian partners. The financial wing of the
company is Future Capital Holdings, as it manages assets worth over a smart USD1
billion for the company and consumer credit. The company has newly invested a consumer
credit and financial supermarket format in the name of Future Money.
The Generali group is a significant business conglomerate in the
global insurance market. It was ranked as the 30th largest company in the world
in 2007 by Fortune. The history of the group goes back to 1831 with the initiation
of the Assicurazioni Generali group in Trieste,Italy. Generali is currently the
largest corporation in Italy. The Generali group has been a significant player in
the market for almost two centuries now. Thus, with its expertise and recognized
financial strength and most importantly, partnerships with major international re-insurers,
it now successfully operates in almost all classes of insurances, namely mass risks,
property and casualty insurances and even the very basic simple policies for family
protection. Assicurazioni Generali is ranked as 'AA' by Standard and Poor.
Lately,the group has flourished in the entire range of financial services and asset
management along with its insurance businesses. It has more than 350,000 shareholders
and over 66,000 employees. It is the largest bancassurer in Europe.
